As they passed a local flooring store, they noticed that the owner was at the dumpster and that he was dumping boxes of tiles into it. When questioned about this, the man said that they were out of stock and of no use to him. The wife suddenly got a very bright idea. They asked the owner if they could take the unwanted tiles with them. They looked at what they had and came up with a pattern that they really liked, and then for the cost of the glue and the sweat from their brows, they created a backsplash that was completely custom-made. It was one that some would have paid thousands of dollars for. Pretty amazing, I think.
